Medicare Advantage Payments: the Next Decade

Medicare Advantage payments have been targeted for cuts by President Obama and the Congress. While greater efficiencies must be found in delivering Medicare benefits, payment cuts must be phased to allow continued care coordination benefits to seniors and other people with Medicare.

Our position

  • Universal American would support a reduction in Medicare Advantage benchmark payments over a four year period, with an estimated savings of some $79 billion during the years 2010-2019, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
